That Jet-Engine Noise is My Brain

I'm in the month from hell. I just want all of you to know - if (when!) I'm cranky, demanding, impatient, snarky - well, moreso than usual on all of those, you have my permission to shake me and tell me to snap out of it.

The Other Personality is working pretty much all the time, and coming up on some major deadlines. Me, I'm trying to pull together Yuri's Night - The World Space Party in Extropia, get us rented up, and stay on top of everything else. My family's taken the brunt of it, and this is an apology to them, and to Vids in particular, for having to deal with me being away so much and being so crazy when I'm here...

I want you guys to know something. Vidal Tripsa put together maybe the best thing to ever happen in Extropia. She organized the Extropia Book Club all the way through, from designing the gorgeous banners to setting up the Shelfari site, to getting us organized, calendared and more or less pointing in the same direction.

Our first time out drew 13 people - thirteen people to a brand new book club in SL! We ran a half hour over, we were having such a good time and a lively discussion. Me, I made some new friends and got to know two really smart people - Truthseeker and Cutter - a bit better. No structure, no hierarchy, no flimflam, just a roomful of geeks talking science fiction. It *rocked*!

*All* the credit for that goes to Vidal. She's terrific, and I love her.

I do wish I could've been there, but I was busy eating too much food at my in-laws' house!

Aw, love. I doubt here would have been such a turnout had the salon not been drawing so many folks into Extropia too, but thank you so much for the encouragement and praise. I'd hoped I could do you proud.

...remind me to actually announce these events in SL's own groups directory next time I start something. It suddenly struck me when the meeting started that we hadn't put any word out save for in-world banners and word-of-mouth about the world and the website. :D

@Vids:

Who's the marketing director?? :P

All the book clubs are on the SL list, on Eventful, on the news of the week on the website and the news of the week notecard to the Extropians group inworld, and announced twice on Twitter. :P

I didn't get this one to Rik's Picks, but otherwise they just get fed into the regular advertising machine :)

Try to survive, Soph! Hope it all calms down rapidly and with a minimum of fuss or traumatic effort. o_o

I'm about to have a super-busy month in SL, myself, but do let me know when you come up for air and can hang out. :) S'been a while!

@Casius - Thanks! Now we just have to get *you* blogging more!

@Jen - you're so on! Friends and fun are the top priority once things settle down -
